Vertical turbine pumps have multiple impeller stages that give them the ability to produce an impressively high pressure — more than many other types of pumps. A vertical centrifugal pump is a type of rotodynamic pump that moves water or other fluids by using a rotating impeller to impart kinetic energy.. This kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy, causing the fluid to flow.

The NPSH curve is more relevant to rotary centrifugal pumps and less relevant to positive displacement pumps which are less likely to operate end of curve and cavitate.
